There are many ways to approach design. You can lead, or you can follow.
Our homeowners are leaders. They are discerning, they seek originality, they crave thoughtful and engaged design without sacrificing aesthetics.
Bearing this in mind, we create luxurious, timeless and exceptional properties that will withstand the test of time, both through form and function. We consider every detail: who lives here, how will they live, and what will they need to enjoy their surroundings?
Our method is to reinvent inefficiencies. Embrace restoration over destruction. Cultivate character from a blank canvas. Reinvigorate classics to make them modern.
It is our mission to raise the bar on design, to not just build four walls but to build a HOME. You can have what everyone else is having, or you can have a Todd home.
Stephen has been in the real estate business since 2002. Over that time he has helped clients buy and sell real estate, with a special focus on helping many Chicago residential developers find the right land and working hand in hand with them in the design of residential projects.
Fusing his head for finance with his eye for good design he eventually decided to strike out on his own in 2010, when he completed his first mixed use construction project in Lincoln Park and he has never looked back.
Stephen is a graduate of the University of Michigan and is an avid football fan, spending many fall Saturdays in Ann Arbor.
Stephen and his wife, Kara, reside in Winnetka with their 3 hilarious and carefree children, and one pesky (but cute) terrier mutt.
What makes a great team?
We don't know the exact recipe, but we think we do pretty well. Yin and Yang, Mutt and Jeff, we use our complement of complementary skills to cover all our bases, leaving no stone unturned and no detail left unconsidered.
Kara takes point on all design-related matters. Her aesthetic can be described as Neo-Traditional, or Modern Classic, however you want to coin the phrase.
She loves reimagining spaces and using her creativity to surmount common obstacles found in the design of older homes.
Her thoroughness is evidenced in the careful curation of every light, doorknob, moulding, tile, and fixture in a home.
Originally from Northern California, Kara brings a California feel to all her projects, whether by incorporating architecture, landscape elements, or even art.
She is the mother of 3 brilliant and rambunctious children, and one goofy terrier mutt.
